Producer Claims Fallout TV Show is 'Almost like Fallout 5'

Nathan Lees

As we approach April, fans of the legendary Fallout series await a premiere that blends the adrenaline of gaming with the luring charm of a big-budget live-action adaptation. On April 12, Amazon Prime becomes the host for the premiere of the Fallout TV series, a narrative-heavy expansion of the beloved post-apocalyptic universe featuring a loaded cast.

In a revealing chat, Jonathan Nolan, one of the series' top producers, compared the show to the mythical 'Fallout 5', asserting it resembles a 'non-interactive version' of the games familiar to diehard fans around the globe. As per the discussion in Total Film, Nolan provided tantalizing hints about the much-anticipated series, stirring hype since its announcement last year.

Each of the games is a discrete story – different city, distinct protagonist – within the same mythology. Our series sits in relation to the games as the games sit in relation to each other. It’s almost like we’re Fallout 5. I don’t want to sound presumptuous, but it’s just a non-interactive version of it, right?

Nolan referred to the expansive Fallout universe, crafted meticulously by several studios since the franchise's inception in 1997. Drawing parallels with his previous work on The Dark Knight trilogy, he emphasized the wealth of storylines ripe for exploration. The depth and detail available make the Fallout TV Show a rich canvas for storytelling.

The Fallout TV series promises an original story with a familiar taste. Everything shown thus far resonates with the game series' atmosphere, tilting more towards the aesthetics of Fallout 4. The show launches on Amazon Prime exclusively on April 12.
