Beat Saber Devs to End Support for Meta Quest 1 in 2024

Nathan Lees

If you're a fan of Beat Saber and still rocking the Meta Quest 1 device, it's time to prepare for some changes. According to the game's updated FAQ section, the developers have announced that support for Meta Quest 1 will be ending on November 2, 2024.

While the game will still be playable on Meta Quest 1 devices, the developers will no longer release updates or provide customer support for these devices. This means that features like multiplayer functionality and leaderboards may be phased out in the future.

In a recent Twitter post, the developers explained that this decision will allow them to focus their efforts on new projects within Beat Saber. While this may be disappointing news for Meta Quest 1 users, it indicates exciting things on the horizon for the game.

It's important to note that the base game and any purchased DLC are tied to player accounts and should be transferable across Meta Quest and Rift platforms. However, some users have reported technical issues with this transition.

For those considering an upgrade, the Meta Quest 3, the latest device in the Meta lineup, was launched last year for $499.99. This newer model offers enhanced features and could be a worthwhile investment for dedicated Beat Saber players.

Despite moving away from the Meta Quest 1, the developers assure players that they have no intention of abandoning Beat Saber itself. The game, which first launched in 2019, continues to attract a loyal fanbase and remains a beloved title in the rhythm genre.
