Dead by Daylight Studio Faces Layoffs Amidst Gaming Industry Struggles

Nathan Lees

In a surprising turn of events, Behaviour Interactive, the developer behind the popular horror game Dead by Daylight, has been hit with significant layoffs. According to a report by Kotaku, the studio has let go of 45 employees across various departments at their Montreal headquarters.

This news comes shortly after Behaviour Interactive's exciting announcement of adding Alan Wake as a playable survivor in Dead by Daylight and the development of a new game in the same universe, The Casting of Franke Stone, in collaboration with Supermassive Games.

The gaming industry has been facing a challenging period, with over 10,000 layoffs in 2023 alone, making it one of the worst years for job security in the sector. January 2024 has already seen over 3,000 layoffs, putting the industry on a worrying trajectory.

As of now, there has been no response from the studio. This development raises concerns and questions about the future of Dead by Daylight and the studio's upcoming projects.
