Ubisoft’s XDefiant, set to launch on May 21, has already implemented crossplay, allowing players to enjoy the game across different platforms. However, for those who prefer to play exclusively with other console players, the good news is that console-only crossplay is in the works for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
This exciting update was confirmed by XDefiant Executive Producer Mark Rubin, who shared the news on Twitter. According to Rubin, Xbox's rules dictate the use of their system for crossplay settings. This means that players looking to disable crossplay and play solely with other Xbox users will need to adjust their settings through the Xbox system rather than within the game itself.
Those were Xbox's rules to us. We have to use their system. But our matchmaking does prefer platform so you may not have to wait long for a match if you turn off crossplay. Give it a try. Also, a future feature we are adding will be console-only crossplay. PS5 and Xbox together.

Rubin also hinted at a future feature that will enable console-only crossplay, bringing PS5 and Xbox players together in the XDefiant universe. This move aims to cater to players who prefer a more controlled gaming environment and wish to avoid potential issues associated with crossplay, such as encountering cheaters more frequently on PC platforms.
On Xbox you have to go to the Xbox settings and turn off crossplay there. We can't do it from the game due to Xbox's rules. But if you do it will work and you will only play with other Xbox users.

While crossplay has become a popular feature in modern gaming, offering players the chance to connect with friends on different platforms, it does come with its own set of challenges. The prevalence of cheaters on PC can often deter players from enabling crossplay or prompt them to seek out console-only options for a fairer gameplay experience.
Microsoft's rule regarding crossplay settings appears to apply universally across games, not just XDefiant. This raises questions about the necessity of such restrictions and whether they should be reconsidered to provide players with more flexibility in managing their crossplay preferences.
