Sony Interactive Entertainment, the parent company of Guerrilla Games, has purportedly announced broad job cuts, resulting in a 10% workforce reduction for the latter. Operating out of Amsterdam, Netherlands, Guerrilla Games is preparing to let go roughly 40 of its 400-plus employees, as detected by the Dutch newspaper, AD.

Established as a shining star of Sony’s brood since 2005, Guerrilla Games has been instrumental in creating hit series like Horizon and Killzone. Its latest blockbuster, Horizon Forbidden West, made waves following its launch for PS4 and PS5 in February 2022 and had already seen over 8.4 million sales by April 2023. Guerrilla Games also plans to introduce Forbidden West to the PC platform in the coming month.

Besides the imminent PC launch, Guerrilla also has its focus on an online project set in the Horizon universe and is gearing up for further "epic solo adventures", with series front-runner Aloy enjoying the limelight.

PlayStation has further unveiled plans to prune its workforce, with a global reduction of 900 employees, nearly 8% of its total workforce. These inevitable layoffs shall pertain to prominent developers like Insomniac, the studio behind Spider-Man, and Naughty Dog, the creator of Last of Us in the US.

Further upheavals include the closure of PlayStation's London Studio and layoffs in UK developer Firesprite. Responding to the announced organizational reforms, Hermen Hulst, current head of PlayStation Studios and former managing director at Guerrilla, implied a rethinking of their operational strategy, a consequence of which has been game project terminations.

Reports suggest a Twisted Metal live service game, which had been under development by Firesprite, has been called off by Sony amidst the ongoing restructuring.
