If you're an Apex Legends player, you may have heard about the recent scandal that rocked the North American finals of the game's tournament. Players reported being hacked mid-game and given cheats like aimbots and wall hacks, which seriously compromised the competitive integrity of the series.
Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind Apex Legends, immediately postponed the finals and promised to share more information soon. And now, in a new statement on Twitter, they have confirmed what happened.
In the statement, Respawn says, "On Sunday, a few professional Apex Legends player accounts were hacked during an ALGS event. Game and player security are our highest priorities, which is why we paused the competition to address the issue immediately."

The studio has deployed the first of a series of updates aimed at protecting the Apex Legends player community and creating a more secure experience for everyone involved. Thanking players for their patience, Respawn is working to ensure that such hacks don't happen again in the future.
Clips of players being hacked during the tournament have surfaced on social media, showcasing just how devastating these cheats can be. In one instance, a pro player is shown having their location and the location of all players revealed in-game, even those behind walls.
