Since the launch of Starfield in September 2023, its player base has gradually dwindled. The game's presence on platforms such as Steam has leveled (or even dipped) to the numbers of older titles such as Fallout 4 and Skyrim. Majority of the fans of Bethesda's interstellar RPG are eagerly anticipating updates on the game's inaugural significant expansion, Shattered Space.
The players who splurged on the premium editions of Starfield already gained early access to Shattered Space, announced even prior to Starfield's release. However, seven months post-Starfield's launch, details about Shattered Space remain sparse. This situation might soon experience a shift. A subtle hint has surfaced recently revealing an intriguing clue. Exploration of Starfield's profile on SteamDB disclosed an 'unknown app' listed under the game's DLC section.
This is a fresh addition to the game's detail segment, though its implications are yet undecipherable. To offer a comparison, Fallout 4's DLC section on SteamDB showcases a roster of the game's downloadable content, including Nuka-World and the Vault-Tec Workshop. This clue could intimate Bethesda Game Studios' potential plans for a forthcoming proposal, which for now, they intend to keep under wraps. SteamDB serves as a gold mine for insights like these, as the platform's inherent openness prevents concealment of any data.
It is the first hint intimating an additional feature being added to Starfield. However, it remains vague whether it pertains to Shattered Space or another minor DLC addition. In the upcoming months, Bethesda plans to make the Creation Kit available to modders, and inaugurate the first major expansion into Starfield's currently sparse gaming environment - which is touted as Bethesda's grandest creation yet.
