Twitch has rolled out a series of pivotal changes to its streamer payout structure, promising a more lucrative landscape for its content creators. This strategic overhaul aims to empower streamers, big and small, by enhancing their earning potential without altering their streaming content or style.
At the heart of these changes is the expansion of the Twitch Partner Plus Program, now rebranded as the "Plus Program." Starting May 1, Twitch is broadening the program to include three major updates:
- Introduction of a New Revenue Split Tier: Streamers maintaining over 100 Plus Points for three consecutive months will now benefit from a 60/40 revenue split, a significant improvement aimed at rewarding consistent performance.
- Lowered Threshold for 70/30 Revenue Split: The requirement for the coveted 70/30 split has been reduced from 350 to 300 Plus Points, making it more accessible to a wider range of streamers.
- Affiliate Inclusion: In a notable expansion, Twitch Affiliates will now have the opportunity to qualify for the Plus Program, opening the door for emerging streamers to earn more.
Plus Points, the currency of the Plus Program, are accrued through subscriptions, with different tiers offering varying points, thereby incentivizing streamers to grow their subscriber base.
Another groundbreaking change is the removal of the $100,000 cap on the 70/30 revenue split. Effective immediately, this cap's elimination addresses long-standing feedback from the community, removing a significant barrier to earnings growth for top-performing streamers.
Lastly, Twitch is transitioning to a fixed-rate model for Prime Gaming subscriptions, with rates varying by subscriber location. For instance, U.S. and Canada-based Prime Gaming subscriptions will net streamers $2.25 each, while those from the U.K. will bring in $1.80. This new model, set to update annually, aims to provide a more predictable and equitable income stream for content creators worldwide.
These changes reflect Twitch's commitment to supporting its vast community of over a million monetizing streamers, ensuring the platform's sustainability and the prosperity of its creators for years to come.
