Ubisoft's highly anticipated shooter game, XDefiant, has finally launched today. Developed in part by former Call of Duty boss Mark Rubin, the game has been met with excitement and anticipation from the gaming community. However, players have encountered major issues right out of the gate.
Reports are flooding in from players who are experiencing difficulties joining matches in the free-to-play game. In response to the server and matchmaking issues, Ubisoft has assured players that they are actively working to resolve the problems. Mark Rubin himself took to social media to acknowledge the matchmaking server problems, emphasizing that the team is dedicated to addressing these issues promptly.

Mark Rubin, who works remotely from Los Angeles, flew into San Francisco to be with the XDefiant team for the game's launch today. Despite the challenges faced at launch, the team remains committed to providing players with a smooth gaming experience.
XDefiant has been a long time in the making, with delays and setbacks along the way. Initially slated for release in 2023, the game was postponed indefinitely before finally being assigned a release date in May. The launch of XDefiant marks the culmination of years of hard work and dedication from the development team.
The game is currently in a "preseason" event, offering players a taste of what's to come before Season 1 officially kicks off later this year. The preseason features five factions from various Ubisoft games, including the Cleaners, Libertad, Echelon, Phantoms, and Dedsec. Players can expect 14 maps, five game modes, and 24 weapons to explore during the preseason. Additionally, a 4v4 ranked practice playlist is available, giving players a glimpse into the competitive gameplay that Season 1 will offer.
As a free-to-play title, XDefiant utilizes microtransactions to generate revenue. Ubisoft has clarified that while players can purchase cosmetic items, there are no pay-to-win mechanics in the game. This ensures a fair and balanced playing field for all participants.
