Key Highlights from the Gameplay Reveal:

  • A Rich Fantasy World: Avowed is set in Eora, the same universe as Obsidian's hit Pillars of Eternity. Players will explore a vast island with diverse ecosystems, delving into a mysterious plague that threatens both body and soul.
  • Diverse Combat System: The game promises a mix of melee, ranged, and magical attacks, allowing players to tailor their combat style.
  • Intriguing Characters: The central character, Kai, a former soldier, is introduced as the player's first companion, hinting at a deeper character-driven narrative.
  • Engaging Quests: The gameplay showcased a side quest involving mysterious deaths, offering a glimpse into the game's storytelling and player choices.

After the initial announcement in 2020, fans had to wait until June 2023 for the first official gameplay trailer. This latest reveal at the Developer Direct has finally quenched the thirst for new visuals, displaying a variety of combat features, environments, and narrative elements.

As the launch date approaches, excitement within the gaming community is palpable. Xbox's Developer Direct has set the stage for what appears to be a captivating addition to the RPG genre.
